#63 – Waldron Falls

#63 – Waldron Falls

July 15, 2018 – After a day down in Crowsnest Pass, we thought we’d take advantage of the area and hit a couple more before going home (we actually tried for a few more but didn’t work out despite our effort – not always easy chasing waterfalls!).  First one of the new day was Waldron Falls.

I’ll reference how to get there from Lundbreck, from the junction of Hwy 3 (Crowsnest Hwy) & Hwy 22 (Cowboy Trail), although chances are depending where you’re coming from you won’t be going that far south.  Here’s an overview…

So the turnoff is about 24.5 km north of that junction, where Old Man River crosses Hwy 22.  Here’s a close-up from the turn…

So if you’re going north from the junction (which I doubt you would be), you’d want to cross putting you on the north side of Old Man River and turn right (east) on 101 which looks like this…

Then it’s basically your first right which is about 1 km down the road into what I believe was a gravel pit.  The entrance has a texas gate and looks like this…

The gravel pit was to the left, but instead of turning into it you just go straight to another texas gate…

The road after that point curves to the left following the river and leads to one last texas gate…

The sign on the left confirms you’ve reached your destination…

You can immediately see the Falls, which is surprising it even counts as one…

Perhaps if you add up all the tiers it does drop 15 feet in total.  If you’d like a closer look you can follow the sandy path…

Not the most impressive tiers, but at least has nice water…

This video gives it a tiny bit more justice…

And so marked our 63rd waterfall of Alberta, Waldron Falls 🙂

Stay tuned for the last one of the day – Gap Falls.
