#58 – Lundbreck Falls

#58 – Lundbreck Falls

July 14, 2018 – It had been some time without seeing a waterfall, and with the news we wouldn’t have kids for the weekend we planned a further venture than usual down to the Crowsnest Pass area.  First stop – Lundbreck Falls.

This one is probably as easy and touristy as it gets; it’s sort of Alberta’s version of Niagara Falls, on a much smaller scale.  It’s easy to Google…

From Edmonton it’s about a 5 hour drive, Calgary about 2.  As you can see it’s basically where Cowboy Trail (Hwy 22) meets Crowsnest Hwy (Hwy 3).  If you’re coming south on Hwy 22 turn right onto Hwy 3 (although you can turn either way there) and then in approx. 2 km you’ll see a sign to turn left…

Then on that road after approx. another kilometer you’ll see the parking lot…

It comes complete with a history lesson…

And a viewpoint where you can see the Falls…

Here’s a video…

Definitely a nice looking waterfall!  We took a quick walk down to get a closer look, which takes you by the scenic bridge…

Then across the smooth flat rock…

And then you’re there!

Here’s the upstream approach from up top…

Going down!

And so concluded Lundbreck Falls, our 58th Alberta waterfall seen together 🙂

Stay tuned for the next waterfall of the day – Castle Falls.
