#29 – Bow Falls

#29 – Bow Falls

Oct 29th, 2016 – After conquering Cascade Falls (see last post – http://albertawaterfallchasers.com/2016/11/10/28-cascade-falls/) we thought we’d hit one last one for the day…Bow Falls.  This one is in the heart of Banff.  Here’s a view in relation to Cascade Falls…

Here’s more zoomed in…

Across the river (so on the West side) is the best access point.  If you stay on the East side on Tunnel Mountain Drive you would get an aerial view.  For some reason we zigzagged around town on both sides (I won’t blame anyone), but from Cascade all you have to do is go straight on Banff Ave until you cross the Bow River.  From there you can make the first right onto Spray Ave (where it shows a sign for “Bow Falls viewpoint”), take a left on Rundle Ave, then a right onto Bow River Ave.  You’ll see a parking lot very shortly and there you are!

There’s not much to say on this one, as it’s right in town.  You’ll see a cement pad where you can view it…

Or from the beach if you prefer…

It’s not very tall, but it’s pretty unique how wide it is.  If you’re feeling brave, you can make your way up the death-defying trail marked with a warning…

Kidding of course; it’s just a staircase 😉

Here’s the view…

And that’s that.  We took our selfie to proclaim our 29th waterfall in Alberta together…

Stay tuned for our last waterfall that trip we went to the following morning – Grassi Lake Falls.
